President says ready to meet with MP Nikol Pashinyan
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has released another statement on the political situation in Armenia. The statement, released by the press department at the President's Office, expresses concern over the emerged situation in Armenia and Pashinyan's rejection of a dialogue that, as Sarkissian describes "can lead to a confrontation."
"I call on all to stop and judge sensibly what implications this confrontation may have. This is not a political statement, but a call from a parent, a friend and an Armenian," the President's statement reads.
The message also urges all participants to exercise restraint and responsibility, follow the rule of law, avoid crossing the scope of rights and duties of the Armenian citizen and official capacities.
In the president's words whatever justification, a political demand may have it should not endanger the health and the life of a citizen.
"I am ready to meet with Deputy of the National Assembly Nikol Pashinyan to smooth the existing tensions through a dialogue of political forces," the statement concludes.
