The European Union will be with the Armenian people - Head of EU delegation in Armenia
"The European Union takes note of the resignation of Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan. We support the efforts to achieve true dialogue for the comprehensive settlement of the current political crisis," the head of the EU delegation to Armenia Piotr Switalski told reporters on Tuesday during the visit to Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex in capital Yerevan to pay tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.
In the Ambassador's words, the European Union will support Armenia in deepening democracy and the rule of law, strengthening of independence of judiciary, fighting against corruption, protecting human rights.
"The recent events showed these values are very important for ordinary Armenians, so the European Union will be with the Armenian people all the way," Piotr Switalski stressed.
Asked to comment on the ratification of the Comprehensive & Enhanced Partnership Agreement CEPA) between the European Union and Armenia, the EU Ambassador said: "The European Union believes that we have a very ambitious agenda and that we will continue with the implementation of the CEPA agreement. The recent events showed that the Armenian people are very interested in these values which are at the backbone of the CEPA agreement. We will work with Armenia to implement the agreement - even more vigorously than before."
