No good will come of this – Karen Karapetyan on country’s situation
Nothing good will come of the current situation in Armenia, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan said today, commenting on the recent political developments in the country.
Speaking at a news conference, he voiced concerns about further escalations of situation in Armenia, stressing the need for talks among the political forces in the legal framework to find ways out of the situation.
“Let’s us not impose our will on each other. It is extremely important to get back to normal life. No good will come of this,” he said.
According to the acting prime minister, he has talked to President Armen Sarkissian over the proposal to launch dialogue between the parties. He said apart from the issued statement, the president will also hold phone talks and meetings with representatives of political forces.
“I hope that our citizens will make political forces engage in a dialogue and find solutions. If we fail to find solutions, we will face problems in all the spheres,” he added.
A new round of mass public protests kicked off in Yerevan on Wednesday morning, after acting PM Karapetyan cancelled the scheduled talks with opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan.
