
Armenian parliament to elect new prime minister on May 1
The Armenian National Assembly will discuss the issue of electing new prime minister at a special session on 1 May, Speaker Ara Babloyan said in a statement.
“Guided by 140.3 Article of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia on "The Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly", I announce that the issue of prime minister’s election will be discussed on May 1, at 12:00, at a special session of the parliament to be convened with force of law,” reads the statement.
Armenia's long-time leader Serzh Sargsyan stepped down as Prime Minister on Monday, April 23, after 11 days of mass public protests.
