Azerbaijani forces violated ceasefire 400 times over the past week
Tensions across the Line of Contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan haves been observed over the past several days as the Azerbaijani forces accumulated manpower and equipment on different sections of the Line of Contact since April 21, Defense Ministry of the Artsakh Republic reported.
As the release details, on April 22 Artsakh Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Levon Mnatsakanyan visited the frontline positions of the NKR Defense Army to assess the operative situation, get familiarized with the state of affairs and check the combat readiness of the troops, giving number of instructions for further actions.
As the Commander of the Defense Army informed, the operative and tactical situation is under the full control of the defense army, and necessary measures are taken to prevent possible provocations of the adversary.
The Defense ministry makes reference to the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs statement on April 23, calling on the sides “to take immediate measures to reduce tensions, in particular, keeping heavy equipment positioned in the rear of the frontlines.”
Overall, the Azerbaijani forces violated the ceasefire along the Line of Contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan around 400 times for the period of April 22-28), firing more than 4,000 shots towards the Armenian defense positions from firearms of different calibers, the press service of the Artsakh Defense Ministry said, adding Artsakh frontline units take necessary measures to suppress provocative actions of the adversary and continue confidently carrying out the combat guard.
