Opposition leader Pashinyan says Azerbaijan must return to constructive field
Yelk opposition faction head Nikol Pashinyan, who was nominated as Armenia’s next prime minister by the faction on Monday morning, voiced his full support for the authorities of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Republic.
“I have presented my position on the Artsakh conflict settlement on numerous occasions, and it has not changed,” the lawmaker told reporters at the National Assembly.
Pashinyan stressed Azerbaijan’s stance on the conflict settlement is 'unconstructive and aggressive'.
“Amid Azerbaijani statements about capturing Yerevan, our major task is to consistently strengthen our army, its combat readiness and spirit and to boost the country’s defense capacities,” he said. “This is the only way to bring Azerbaijan to a constructive field.”
According to the lawmaker, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries should make efforts to have Azerbaijan end its aggressive rhetoric and return to a constructive field.
“I fully support the Artsakh authorities,” he stressed.
