Armenia’s electricity generation up in first quarter of 2018
Armenia saw an increase in electricity generation in the first three months of 2018, according to the latest statistics.
A total of 2 109.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in Armenia in January-March 2018, up by 0.4% from the same period last year, Armenia's National Statistical Service (NSS) informed Panorama.am.
According to the NSS figures, the electricity generation at thermal power plants grew by 0.2%, amounting to 866.6 million kilowatt-hours in the first quarter of this year.
Meantime, the electricity production volumes at hydropower plants grew by 8.7% in the indicated period, standing at 461.3 million kilowatt-hours.
During the reporting period, 20 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced in the country, an increase of 19.8% from the same period of 2017.
In the first quarter of 2018, Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) generated 780.3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, down by 3.8% from January-March 2017.
