RPA vows to support PM candidate Nikol Pashinyan
The ruling Republican Party of Armenia is ready to support the candidate for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who has collected signatures from the one third of the total number of deputies at Armenian parliament, Eduard Sharmazanov, the spokesperson for RPA, told reporters after the sitting of the RPA executive body.
Sharmazanov reminded that 45 signatures have been received in support of Pashinyan‘s PM candidacy, while the Republican party will ensure the remaining votes for Pashinyan to be become Prime Minister of Armenia.
To remind, the Armenian parliament is set to elect the new Prime Minister on May 8. Pashinyan will need 54 votes in favour to be elected as PM.
“The decision [of supporting the PM candidate] was made by the party and the fraction. We have urged the deputies to vote in favor of Pashinyan’s candidacy. There is no divergences over the issue, and the decision was made collaboratively,” Sharmazanov added, declining to specify who from the fraction will vote for Pashinyan.
