Armenia’s wine production up, vodka, whiskey down in first quarter of 2018
Armenia’s wine output recorded an increase of 6.2% in the first quarter of 2018 over the same period last year, with the wine production volumes amounting to 2,088,900 liters in the country, the statistics show.
According to the figures released by the National Statistical Service (NSS), a total of 8,852,500 liters of wine were produced in Armenia in 2017, up by some 30% from 2016, reports Panorama.am.
Armenia produced 100,800 liters of champagne-wines from January to March 2018, indicating a 3.2% rise over the last year’s figures.
The beer production volumes also grew in the indicated period to stand at 2,988,000 liters, thus increasing by 10.2% comparted to the 2017 figures.
Meantime, the production volumes of some alcoholic beverages dropped in the country this year. The NSS data shows that vodka and vodka liqueur totaling to 794,600 liters were produced in the country in the first quarter of 2018, down by 27% from the same period last year.
The country’s whiskey output dropped by 62.2% to 159,600 liters in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the production volumes of the same period of 2017 (422,500 liters).
