Turkish energy minister names date of launching TANAP gas pipeline
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak has unveiled the date of putting into operation the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which runs from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey to Europe, RIA Novosti reported, citing Turkish media.
The Turkish official announced that the formal commissioning of the gas pipeline with an initial annual capacity of 16 billion cubic meters is scheduled for 12 June, serving as an alternative source of gas to Europe.
TANAP and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) are part of the Southern Gas Corridor project, which is supposed to transport some 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas to Europe through Georgia and Turkey.
