Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission names six new MPs
Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on Wednesday convened a special sitting to void the registration of the MP candidates who were on the electoral list of the Yelk parliamentary faction but have given up their parliamentary seats, and to allocate mandates to new MPs.
The commission adopted a protocol to terminate the MP mandate of Nikol Pashinyan since he has assumed the office of Armenia’s Prime Minister. Pashinyan’s mandate was allocated to Alen Simonyan, a member of the Yelk bloc in the Yerevan City Council.
Hrachya Hakobyan is set to substitute Yelk MP Ararat Mirzoyan, who has been appointed First Vice Prime Minister. In addition, according to the CEC protocols, Hovik Aghazaryan and Hayk Konjoryan will get the parliamentary seats of Mane Tandilyan (appointed minster of labor and social affairs) and Artak Zeynalyan (appointed justice minister).
Hakob Hakobyan will substitute Republican Party of Armenia MP Grigor Avalyan, while Ruzanna Arakelyan will take the seat of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun lawmaker Aghvan Vardanyan.
