Municipal museums will join International Museums Day and “European Museum Night” events

On May 18 and 19, Yerevan History Museum, Erebuni historical and archaeological reserve-museum, Modern Art Museum, “Karen Demirchyan” and “Fridtjof Nansen” museums subordinated to Yerevan Municipality will come up with a number of events within the scope of International Museums Day and “European Museum Night” program.

As the Yerevan Municipality reports, on these days the entrance to the museums will be traditionally free of charge. At the suggestion of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) this year the events will be held under the slogan” Hyperconnected museums: new approaches, new publics”.

Within the frames of the International Museums Day and “European Museum Night” program the municipal museums will work at the following schedule:

Yerevan History Museum
May 18. The museum is open from 10 am till 6 pm
May 19. The museum is open from 10 am till midnight.
At 8 pm the opening of the photo exhibition “Yerevan 2800. Yerevan is the capital of three republics” takes place.

“Erebuni: historical and archaeological reserve-museum
On May 18 the museum is open from 10.30 am till 8 pm.
At 10.30 am till 6 pm- “Archaeological heritage for generations: recognize, evaluate, preserve” exhibition
At 1 pm-“Yerevan cultural heritage and sustainable tourism: Erebuni, Karmir Blur, Shengavit” exhibition opening
At 2 pm- “Restored Erebuni citadel” 3D presentation.
At 3 pm- “MEMORIES: episodes from Erebuni-Yerevan celebrations” exhibition opening
On May 19 the museum is open till midnight.
From 8pm till midnight- watching of permanent an temporary expositions
At 6pm- tour around the museum presented by “Young archaeologists” and “Restored Erebuni citadel” 3D presentation.
At 7pm- Poetry hour presented by the members of the RA Union of Writers
At 8pm- Urartian cuisine tasting from S. Mamulyan’s menu
At 9pm- Ethnic songs and dances
At 10pm- “Cultural heritage of France” film watching
From 10pm till midnight-A night walk in “Erebuni” fortress

Modern Art Museum
On May 18, from 11 am and 6pm, and o May 19 from 6pm till midnight- individual exhibition of Ayvaz Avoyan and “Four chairs” illustration in teamwork with the museum of Armenian and Russian friendship

“Karen Demirchyan” museum
On May 18 from 10am till 6 pm and on May 19 from 6 pm till midnight- “Between the hammer and sickle” exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Karabakh movement

Fridtjof Nansen museum
On May 18, at 3pm- discussion of the book “Poghos Noubar Pasha: National figure” by Samuel Poghosean On May 19, at 6am watching of the documentary film “Fridtjof Nansen and Armenia”
