Armenian parliament adopts several bills in the first reading
The Armenian National Assembly passed in the first reading a number of draft laws at Wednesday’s regular session.
The bill proposing amendments and supplements to the constitutional law “On the Human Rights Defender” and the attached bill package passed the parliamentary reading with a vote of 89 in favour.
The parliament voted overwhelmingly to pass in the first reading the draft law on making supplements to the law “On State Fees”.
The issue of ratifying the agreement between the Armenian and French governments on employment of the family members of the employees of one state’s official missions in the other state was adopted with 92 votes for.
The parliament also put to the vote the issue of ratifying the “Convention between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the State of Israel on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital".
In his speech before the voting, Hayk Babukhanyan, an MP from the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction, voiced his decision to abstain from voting, citing the fact the Armenian Genocide issue has once again become a target for speculations in Israel.
The parliament ratified the convention with a vote of 90 for and 2 abstentions.
The lawmakers also adopted in the first reading the draft law on proposing supplements and amendments to Armenia’s Tax Conde and the attached bill package.
