Artak Davtyan appointed new Armenian army chief
Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on Thursday to appoint Major General Artak Davtyan as the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pahinyan introduced Davtyan in a post on his Facebook page.
Artak Davtyan served as the Chief of Operative Department of the army’s General Staff from 2009 to 2017. He took the position of the Commander of the 5th Army Corps of the Armenian Armed Forces in 2017.
Former Army Chief Movses Hakobyan, who was relieved of his duties earlier on Thursday, has been appointed Chief Military Inspector.
