PM Pashinyan introduces new Armenian army chief
Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on Friday introduced newly appointed Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Artak Davtyan to the senior officer staff at the defense ministry.
Pashinyan thanked former army chief Movses Hakobyan for his services rendered to the country and congratulated Artak Davtyan on assuming the office, the PM’s office told Panorama.am.
Stressing that the Armenian Armed Forces enjoy the people’s full trust, the PM added, however, that there are some issues in this trust that need to be dealt with.
“We need to put a task to replace the sense of work with the sense of mission, since this is the moral and psychological basis that will force us to resist the seemingly unsolvable problems,” he said. “As a result of all this, the key task is to make the combat-readiness of the armed forces in line with the estimated and foreseeable military threats and the nature of war in order to ensure resistance to possible aggression.”
PM Pashinyan also attached importance to ensuring single leadership and increasing the education level in the Armenian army.
New army chief Artak Davtyan thanked the PM for the trust, noting he will try to prove worthy to it through his work.
Afterwards, the solemn ceremony of transferring the position of the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces was held.
