President Sarkissian meets with his Finnish counterpart
President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, who is attending a ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Georgia’s independence, met today with the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö.
As the press department at the President’s Office reported, President Sarkissian noted with satisfaction that the relations between Armenia and Finland have been developing steadily over the quarter of century since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The president highlighted the need to continue the high-level political dialogue and invited Sauli Niinistö to pay an official visit to Armenia.
In Sarkissian’s words, being small states, Armenia and Finland share many similarities that may serve a firm ground to expand the scope of cooperation.
The Finnish president, in turn, noted he had followed the recent changes in Armenia and is glad the situation was solved in a civilized and peaceful way.
The parties also discussed the cooperation prospects following the signing of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the release said.
