PM says Babloyan’s absence on the First Republic celebration was “a sad oversight”
“I think a misunderstanding occurred in this period of transition which is a “sad oversight,”” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters on Tuesday when asked to comment on the absence of the Parliament speaker Ara Babloyan at the ceremony, marking the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia at Sardarapat Memorial Complex on Monday.
Pashinyan, however, stressed that Babloyan was invited to the event.
To note, earlier the deputy chief of the NA staff Arsen Babayan said the head of the country’s legislative body, which is a separate branch of power, had not been invited to the state ceremony in violation of the established and long-practiced protocol.
One reason for the occurred situation, per Pashinyan, was the fact that the current PM “does not feel necessary to enter into all details [in the course of organization of such events], such as what is said by others, what expression of face [to have] or what color of a tie [to wear].”
