Karabakh Telecom’s monopoly coming to an end; minister addresses 3 Armenian operators
The monopoly of Karabakh Telecom CJSC, a company providing mobile communication services, is coming to an end in Artsakh, State Minister Arayik Harutyunyan told a news conference on Thursday, according to the head of the public relations department of the minister’s office.
In a post on Facebook, Vahram Poghosyan pointed out the key messages of the state minister’s conference, adding Karabakh Telecom will no longer be the only provider of telecommunication services in the country.
The post says Harutyunyan has addressed an official letter to three Armenian operators proposing them to offer services in Artsakh as well.
In addition, the existing subscription fees will decrease by 50 percent, with tariffs per minute and roaming tariffs expected to drop by 20 percent apiece.
“By the yearend we will enjoy a more affordable and higher quality internet connection due to an additional investment of around 11 million euros by the company,” the official added.
