Armenia’s permanent population on the decline
As of April 1, 2018, Armenia’s permanent population stood at 2 million 969.9 thousand, with 1 million 894.5 thousand people living in the cities of the country and 1 million 75.4 people residing in rural communities.
To remind, Armenia’s permanent population was estimated 2 million 972,8 as of January 2018 and 2 million 986,1 in January 2017.
According to the statistics released by the National Statistical Service, capital city Yerevan has 1 million 77.6 thousand population, while Armavir province comes the second with 264.5 thousand population.
Vayots Dzor province is the least populated region of Armenia with 49.5 thousand residents.
