World Bicycle Day 2018 marked in Yerevan
June 3 was marked as World Bicycle Day 2018, organized by the UN to celebrate the bicycle as an affordable method of transport.
On the occasion of the Day, around 500 cyclists gathered today at Republic Square in Yerevan to take part in the cycling campaign. The event was attended by the Armenian Minister of Sport Levon Vahradyan, MFA Spokesperson Tigran Balayan, National Coordinator at UN Armenia Hovhannes Ghazaryan, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Armenia and public figures.
"Simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit method of transport, which also brings many health benefits,” UN describes cycling in its declaration.
To note, the campaign is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising public awareness about the benefits of cycling.
