Armenian Cassation Court chairman steps down
Chairman of the Armenian Court of Cassation Arman Mkrtumyan has today announced a decision to step down.
Mkrtumyan submitted resignation to the Supreme Judicial Council, citing the need to “give experienced young people an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, strength and energy” in the country’s judiciary.
In the statement announcing his resignation, Mkrtumyan says he has served Armenia for 30 years, holding senior positions at the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Assembly before being engaged in the judiciary system.
He headed the Court of Cassation for the past ten years, joining the court as a senior judge in 1998.
