PM: Armenia to counter Azerbaijan’s ‘astronomical’ military spending with innovation technologies
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan voiced his new government’s strong commitment to restore the military balance between Armenia and Azerbaijan by countering the country’s huge military spending with innovation technologies.
“We shall counter Azerbaijan’s astronomical [military] spending with innovation technologies and innovation thinking,” he said at today’s special session of the National Assembly, while introducing the new government program.
The PM stressed the need to eliminate all the obstacles facing the country’s development as a key priority of his government.
Commenting on the criticism on the government’s program suggesting it lacks “clear numbers” regarding the country’s economic growth, he said. “We have covered the intrinsic issues [in the program]. After the parliament approves the government program, we will adopt a list of measures stemming from the program.”
Pashinyan also stressed the need to uncover March 1 tragic events that hit Armenia in 2008. “I have tasked the law enforcement agencies to deal with the issue of revealing the March 1 killings,” he said. “I cannot assess the law enforcement system as satisfactory so long as the March 1 case is not revealed.”
