Azerbaijan casts serious doubt on its commitment to peace, says Armenian FM
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan hosted on Tuesday OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stéphane Visconti (France) and Andrew Schofer (U.S.), as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital.
Appreciating the mediators’ mission, the Armenian official highlighted the visit in terms of establishing the first direct contact with the new Armenian government, the Foreign Ministry’s press service told Panorama.am.
Minister Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed Armenia’s approaches and position in the negotiation process, emphasizing the country’s commitment to exclusively peaceful settlement of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict within the Minsk Group co-chairmanship format.
The co-chairs, for their part, briefed the minister on their experience and approaches in the settlement process.
The sides thoroughly exchanged views on the conflict’s peaceful settlement and reflected on the possibilities of advancing the peace talks, attaching importance to the creation of a peace-building atmosphere.
Reflecting on the recent killing of an Artsakh Defense Army solder by Azerbaijan at the contact line, Mnatsakanyan stressed Azerbaijan casts a serious doubt on its commitment to the peace process with such provocations.
The officials also discussed the future efforts within the co-chairmanship format.
