Security officers have discovered more food earmarked for soldiers and other products meant for them at a mansion belonging to MP Manvel Grigoryan, a retired army general who was stripped of his parliamentary immunity on Tuesday.

Armenia’s Special Investigative Service and the National Security Service in cooperation of the Artsakh law enforcement officers have found and confiscated the items in the lawmaker’s house located at Artsakh’s Ara Ler area close to a military unit of the country’s Defense Army.

The new discoveries include large quantities of earmarked canned meat, cigarettes, military underwear and clothing, hygiene items, bandages, petrol, as well as 7.62 mm and 5.45 mm bullets, the Special Investigative Service’s press service told Panorama.am.

Separately, one of Grigoryan’s relatives has been detained on suspicion of illegally possessing firearms as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Special Investigative Service says the details and video of the raid will follow soon.

Manvel Grigoryan was detained on 16 June after security officers raided his Etchmiadzin villa to discover and confiscate large quantities of illegally stored firearms, explosives and cars (including military vehicles).

The discoveries also included canned and preserved food labelled “Not for Sale: Soldier’s Ration”, as well as clothing, hygiene items and medicine donated to servicemen during the 2016 April War.    

The Armenian National Assembly voted on Tuesday to strip Manvel Grigoryan of his parliamentary immunity and prosecute him.
