Armenia’s economic activity up 8.6 % in Jan-May
The economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia grew by 8.6% in January-May 2018 from the same period last year, according to the latest figures released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS).
As the statistics show, the index at the same time stood at 10.4% in May from April of the ongoing year, Panorama.am reports.
The construction sector secured the utmost growth in the reporting period, with the construction volumes increasing by 42.4% from the same period last year and by 3.1% compared to the figures of May 2017.
The service volumes (excluding the trade) rose by 17.5% in the reporting period. The consumer prices also increased by 2.8% against January-May 2017, by 12.2% – from April 2018 and by 8.8% – from May last year.
The trade turnover grew by 10.2% from January to May this year against the same period of 2017.
Meantime, Armenia’s gross agricultural output saw a rise of 1.5% within the first five months of this year. As for the external trade turnover, it grew by 32.4% in the indicated period, with the exports increasing by 24.1% and imports – by 37%.
According to the statistics, the average monthly salary in Armenia rose by 4% in January-May 2018.
