Defense ministry to examine reports about American helicopters obtained by Azerbaijan
Reports suggest the Azerbaijani Air Forces have obtained Bell-412 helicopters that will be showcased during a military parade on June 26. Panorama.am turned to defense ministry spokesperson Artsrun Hovhannisyan to comment on the information and check whether the Armenian side has asked clarifications from the American side.
“We have seen the reports and are set to examine them,” Hovhannisyan told.
Earlier political scientist Suren Sargsyan questioned on Facebook how the Bell-412 copters produced by American aircraft manufacturer Bell Helicopter reached Baku given the U.S. legislation banning the country to supply arms to a party to conflict.
“The Armenian foreign and defense ministries, as well as the U.S.-based organizations should immediately take action to figure out who has sold or resold the helicopters to Baku,” Sargsyan stressed. The armed forces of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and a number of other countries operate Bell-412 helicopters, the expert added.
