Armenian MP speaks to U.S. congresswoman over Bell-412 copters sales to Azerbaijan
Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Arpine Hovhannisyan has today talked to U.S Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard over the sales of U.S.-manufactured Bell-412 helicopters to Azerbaijan.
Earlier on Saturday, she addressed a letter to Co-Chair of the Congressional Armenian Caucus Jackie Speier and its member Ms. Gabbard, voicing her concerns about the recent reports of American helicopters obtained by Azerbaijan.
“I spoke with Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (who is a former military). I was assured that my letter had reached the addressee, I presented the public discourse on this issue, as well as the main axis of the existing reactions and comments after sending the letter, including viewpoints circulating among Azerbaijani expert circles,” MP Hovhannisyan said in a post on Facebook.
“My colleague gave her assurances she would thoroughly study the matter and deal with it to provide additional information afterwards,” she added.
Media reports suggest the Azerbaijani Air Forces have obtained U.S.-made Bell-412 helicopters that will be showcased during a military parade in Baku on June 26.
A co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States has no right to sell arms and ammunition to any party to the Artsakh conflict.
