Armenian-Russian interregional co-op among Armenia’s priorities, minister says
The interregional relations between Armenia and Russia play a major role in developing the mutual cooperation, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan said at the 7th Russian-Armenian Interregional Forum hosted by Yerevan, Armenia.
At the event titled “The digital initiatives of Armenia and Russia on the sidelines of the implementation of the digital agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union”, the Armenian minister stressed the Armenian-Russian interregional cooperation is a top priority for the country’s government.
“We need to jointly seek ways and opportunities of cooperation both in the public and private sectors. I believe in case of effectively settling the organizational issues, we will witness the implementation of new joint innovation programs,” Papikyan said.
According to the minister, the business community plays a key role in the dynamic development of the Armenian-Russian bilateral cooperation. He stressed the need to elaborate new directors of further cooperation between the two states, meantime expanding the existing partnership.
“I am also glad to note that the bilateral cooperation in the spheres of science, culture, sports, health and education is deepening year by year,” the minister noted.
The forum is dedicated to the expansion of the trade and economic ties between Armenia and Russia at a time of increasing digitalization in such sectors as agriculture, transport, tourism and humanitarian cooperation.
The event has brought together representatives of the two countries’ ministries, business circles, as well as heads of regions.
The Russian-Armenian Interregional Forum has been held since 2011 to discuss issues of developing and deepening cooperation between the Armenian and Russian regions in different directions.
