Artsakh sees surge in tourist arrivals in five months
Tourist arrivals in Artsakh surged 102 percent in the first five months of 2018 from a year earlier, data from the country’s ministry of culture, youth affairs and tourism showed on Thursday.
The country welcomed a total of 8,654 foreign tourists from January to May 2018, against the 4,292 tourist arrivals recorded in the same period last year.
Moreover, the tourist arrivals also grew according to months (180%, 225%, 19%, 14% and 146% respectively).
The total number of subjects engaged in tourism reached 10 in Artsakh in January-May, including nine tour operators and one travel agency.
In the reporting period, four tourist accommodation facilities were created in the country. Overall, 53 hotel businesses are currently operating in Artsakh.
