Salt, sugar production drops sharply in Armenia
Armenia saw a sharp decline in sugar and salt production volumes in the first five months of 2018 from the same period last year, the National Statistical Service told Panorama.am.
Salt production cut down by 35.7 percent to make up 8,206,6 tons in January-May 2018. To compare, Armenia produced a total of 12,768.4 tons of salt in the same period last year.
Sugar production volumes also saw a sharp decline of 59% in the reporting period. Overall, 16,000 tons of sugar were produced in Armenia in January-May 2018, while the production stood at 39,020.0 tons in the same period of 2017.
