Russia sets up center for receiving, relocating, accommodating refugees in Syria
Moscow has set up a center for receiving, relocating, accommodating refugees in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the Center would also organize humanitarian aid deliveries.
"Acting in coordination with the Syrian authorities, Russia has set up a center for receiving, relocating, accommodating refugees as part of international efforts to assist Syrian refugees in returning to their places of residence," the statement reads, as quoted by TASS agency.
According to the ministry, the center will monitor the return of temporarily displaced persons and Syrian refugees from foreign countries to their places of residence, as well as arrange humanitarian aid deliveries and assist the Syrian authorities in restoring healthcare and human services.
Russia’s Foreign and Defense Ministries have established a joint headquarters at the National Defense Management Center in order to coordinate the refugee center’s activities.
"Information about Russia’s initiative aimed at resolving the issue of refugees’ return to their homes is being provided to relevant United Nations agencies, as well as to Russia’s embassies in 36 countries hosting the largest numbers of Syrian refugees," the Russian Defense Ministry pointed out.
