No political aspect in the Panik incident – Karen Qocharyan
“I am inclined to think that the Panic incident occurred inadvertently due to the Russian manner of holding exercises without prior notification,” political technologist Karen Qocharyan told Panorama.am, commenting on the recent unannounced military exercises by the servicemen of the Russian military base in the territory of Armenia.
To remind, on July 17 reports and footages were circulated in the made showing how residents of the village were shocked by the sound of explosions and gunfire by Russian militaries who launched exercises near the populated area without prior notification.
“At this point it would be right to close the case following the apology [of the Russian side], as it is not the right time to endanger the Armenian-Russian, the Armenian-American, the Armenian-Iranian or other relations,” Qocharyan said, warning against instigating a big story out the incident.
“I do not think the incident had a political aspect, and the case is not about Nikol Pashinyan and pro-western policy. However, we cannot assert everything is great in Armenian-Russian relations,” Qocharyan said at a press conference.
Speaking of the Artsakh issues and the settlement process, the speaker pointed to the continuity of the process.
“The other thing is the need of activating the talks. The process is currently going behind the scene. It needs a “restart” as a new player has emerged.” Qocharyan said.
