Speaker Ara Babloyan extended condolences to the President the Greek Parliament
The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Ara Babloyan sent today condolences to the President of the Parliament of the Hellenic Republic Nikolaos Voutsis. “We learned with deep sorrow about the loss of many human lives caused by wildfires in the Attica region of Greece. On behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and on my own behalf I extend my deepest condolences to you and to the victims’ families,” reads the message in part, as posted by the parliament press service.
“We stand with the brotherly people of Greece, grieve with the families of the victims and wish speedy recovery of those injured,” Babloyan’s condolence message concluded.
To remind, the worst forest fires to hit Greece in a decade have claimed the lives of at least 50 people near Athens as they attempted to flee the flames in cars or on foot. Authorities confirmed the death toll had risen after rescue crews reported finding the bodies of more than 20 people huddled closely together near a beach northeast of the capital, Athens.
