Aronian smashes Caruana at the Speed Chess Championship
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian was victorious in the 1/8 finals of the 2018 Chess.com Speed Chess Championship season. As the Chess Federation of Armenia reports, the two grandmasters played 8 games at the Speed Chess time control of 5 minutes plus 1, second increment, 9 games - at the time control of 3 minutes plus 1 and 10 games - at the time control of 1 minutes plus 1.
According to the source, Aronian won the match easily in all sets by the final score of 20.5 - 6.5. In the ¼ finals Aronian will face the winner of Giri - Mamedyarov pair.
