It is still too soon to make any conclusions on the possible split of Yelk bloc, First Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan told reporters on Thursday, assuring an official statement will follow if the bloc falls apart.

His comment comes after the PM-led Civil Contract party made a decision to take part in the upcoming elections of the Yerevan Council of Elders alone.

“I think it is still early to make conclusions on its split,” he said. “Once Yelk bloc splits, I assure you, an official statement will follow immediately.”

Asked whether the Civil Contract is likely to participate in the snap parliamentary elections as part of an alliance, the official said: “My personal opinion is the following: a political force should be formed in Armenia having the Civil Contract party, as well as the value system, ideas and goals brought up by Nikol Pashinyan and his teammates as its core.”

Mirzoyan says that political force will assume the responsibility for all changes in the country based on these values, becoming their ‘flagman’. According to him, this force may involve both individuals and representatives from political and public structures.
