Ten regional schools in Armenia set to get telescopes, create astronomy clubs
An estimated number of ten schools in Armenia’s five regions will receive telescopes as part of a program jointly implemented by the Armenian Astronomical Society and the Under the Common Sky Polish NGO.
Physics, mathematics and geography teachers of 10 schools in Aragatsotn, Tavush, Kotayk, Ararat and Syunik regions selected by the program underwent trainings at Byurakan Observatory from 29 July to 2 August to create astronomy clubs in their schools.
During the training course conducted by Ewelina Gradzka, the head of the Polish organization, the teachers have acquired skills of using telescopes, explored the night sky and got acquainted with the Stellarium astronomy software.
The training featured theoretical and practical classes on astronomy, the observatory told Panorama.am.
At the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, each of the schools is set to organize an astronomical event in their local communities, sharing their knowledge and experience gained during the year.
