Academician, professor Sergei Hambardzumyan dies aged 97
Academician, professor of the Armenian Academy of National Sciences, one of the founders of the Armenian school of mechanic engineering Sergey Hambardzumyan has died at the age of 97. As the press service at the Academy of National Sciences reports, a government commission was set up to organize the funeral of the academician.
According to the source, a requiem mass will be held in Surb Hovhannes Church in Yerevan’s Kond district at 18:00 on August 6, while the funeral ceremony will start at 14:00 on August 7 at Academy of National Sciences.
Hambardzumyan is the author of refined theories of elastic and magnetoelectroelastic plates, shells. Throughout his professional career the professor has been honored with six orders and numerous medals, “Tigran Mets” medal among them for his significant investment in Armenian science development.
