Pilot error one of possible causes of Mi-8 helicopter crash in Krasnoyarsk region
Russia’s Investigative Committee is considering all possible causes of the Mi-8 helicopter crash in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region in East Siberia, including pilot error, the Committee’s spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko told TASS.
"All possible causes are under consideration as part of a criminal investigation, including pilot error," she said, as quoted by the source.
"According to investigators, on August 4 in the morning a Mi-8 helicopter belonging to Utair airline clipped the load of another copter of the same company by its main rotor blade at the altitude of 100 meters in the Vankor Field area, and crashed after that," Petrenko explained. According to preliminary estimates, the crash killed all 15 passengers and three crew members onboard. "The second helicopter made an emergency landing, none of crew members onboard got hurt," she added.
