Armenia launches imported Belarusian meat inspections
Armenia’s State Service for Food Safety has launched inspections on imported meat form Belarus to check its possible safety risks.
Imported Belarusian meat is not subject to inspection in the Armenian border checkpoint, in case the respective documents are available, since Belarus is a member state of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Alerts on the meat's possible health threats was one of the causes to start inspections, the head of the Inspection Body told Panorama.am.
“The initiative of launching inspections belongs to us. They aims at checking [the meat’s] storage conditions and labelling. But we have also received some alerts,” Georgi Avetisyan said.
He says the inspections have not revealed serious safety threats so far.
The service has also started to inspect child entertainment centers, as well as the soft ice cream machines market.
