Armenia’s transport minister heading to Upper Lars hit by long traffic jam
Armenia’s Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Ashot Hakobyan is departing for Upper Lars to get first-hand information, as the road is hit by a massive traffic jam since Sunday.
Hakobyan is heading to the checkpoint by the instruction of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the ministry’s press service told Panorama.am.
Earlier Armen Pambukchyan, a deputy transport minister, urged drivers to avoid the road if possible, since numerous trucks and passenger vehicles are stuck both at the Russian and Georgian sides of the road since Sunday evening.
In a post on Facebook, he said that the vehicles lined up to 9-10 kilometers at the Russian side of the road, while some 200 trucks were accumulated at the Georgian side.
