Prices in Armenia’s dominating commodity markets mostly stable: monitoring
The prices in the dominating commodity markets in Armenia are mostly stable, with a price fall recorded in some markets for objective reasons, according to a recent monitoring conducted by the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) in Armenia.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the commission says the monitoring comes to prove that Armenia’s main commodity markets of social significance have not seen any price change.
In particular, the SCPEC cities the oil, dairy products, pasta, fish, chicken and other markets. No price increase has been recorded in the flour market as well, the commission said, adding it is priced at AMD 202 per kilogram.
The SCPEC states the statements on price rise in the country are disinformation. Touching upon the public concerns over the increase in prices for seasonal fruits and vegetables as voiced in some media reports, the commission says it conducts control exclusively in dominant commodity markets, which is not the case with fruits and vegetables.
The SCPEC says it has addressed the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture with a proposal to deal with the issue.
“The Commission continues to conduct daily monitoring in large commodity markets of social importance and will take respective measures as prescribed by law in case of uncovering cases of abuse,” the statement concluded.
