PM: All those who have perpetrated against state, people will be brought to justice
There is no alternative to establishing the rule of law in Armenia, and all those who have committed a crime against the state and people will be brought to justice, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a video message livesteamed on Facebook.
“People’s power is established in Armenia and, believe me, there is no force in Armenia that will be able to stand against the people’s power or stop the victory of the popular revolution,” he said.
“There is no alternative to establishing the rule of law in Armenia, all those who have perpetrated against the state and people will be brought to justice. Everyone will be held accountable for their actions in the manner prescribed by law,” he said.
The PM said the authorities also feel a similar responsibility before the people and statehood. “We will organize this whole political process within the framework of the powers received from people and will not overstep their bounds,” he said.
Pashinyan restated that all the criminals will be held accountable and every penny stolen from the people will be returned, stressing: “There is no alternative to the triumph of the non-violent, velvet and democratic revolution.”
He once again urged the public to gather at the Republic Square in downtown Yerevan on 17 August, at 6:30pm, to sum up his first 100 days in office.
As reported earlier, the protests erupted in Yerevan on Tuesday against the ruling of the Court of Appeals to release former president Robert Kocharyan, charged over the March 1-2, 2008 post election crackdown, from custody.
