Exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of prominent painter Hovhannes Zardaryan to open at National Gallery of Armenia
National Gallery of Armenia has announced an opening of exhibition named “Origin” which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of prominent painter Hovhannes Zardaryan
to open at National Gallery of Armenia. Th art collection of the painter will be on display from September 5th, the Gallery reported.
Hovhannes Zardaryan is one of those distinguished masters of the 20th century who have enriched Armenian painting. This exhibition makes the logical generalization of Zardaryan’s creative activity. About 70 paintings and graphic artworks from the collections of the National Gallery and his family are presented in chronological succession. Some of them are displayed for the first time. The artist with creativity of more than half a century has not had any personal exhibition in homeland during his lifetime. Yet, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions; his works were exhibited in halls from USA to Japan, they were highly estimated and received great awards. Artworks of Hovhannes Zardaryan are preserved in the National Gallery of Armenia, the History Museum of Armenia, the State Tretyakov Gallery of Moscow, the State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow and in numerous private collections.
