Prime Minister Pashinyan hosted official dinner in honor of German Chancellor Angela Merkel
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted an official dinner on Friday in honor of German Chancellor Angela Merkel who is paying two-day visit to Armenia.
PM Pashinyan and Angela Merkel exchanged toasts in which they touched upon the Armenian-German interstate relations and prospects for their development.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, the date is memorable in the history of Armenian-German relations as the Chancellor is paying the first ever visit to Armenia. In his speech Pashinyan stressed that there has formed a special, emotional and political attitude toward Germany in Armenia especially after 2016 when the German Bundestag adopted a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide.
Angel Merkel, in turn, expressed gratitude on behalf of the German delegation for the warm reception and hospitality.
“I am happy to be hosted in a city that has 2800-year-long history and is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage. Today, I and my delegation visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial where all our thoughts were for the pain of the Armenian people suffered in 1915,” Merkel said.
