Armenia’s electricity consumption hits record high this summer, minister says
Armenia saw a record demand of electricity in summer 2018, Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Artur Grigoryan told reporters on Wednesday, summing up the first 100 days of his tenor.
“In the history of independent Armenia such volumes of power consumption – 1,030 MW daily – has never been recorded,” he stressed, linking it with hot summer.
According to the minister, such high electricity demand is generally observed during New Year.
In his words, it was a rather serious issue for them to ensure high-quality services at that time amid suspension of the operation of Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant.
“Due to our experienced staff and organized work, we did not record any interruptions,” he said.
