Yerevan’s 2800th jubilee to be celebrated on 20-21 October
Armenia will mark the 2800th anniversary of the foundation of capital Yerevan on 20-21 October, postponing the celebrations for a month, according to a government decision adopted on Thursday.
The move comes amid Armenia’s preparations to host the 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie from October 7 to 12, as well as the snap Yerevan City Council elections slated for 23 September.
The delay of celebrations is also linked with the fact this year marks the 2800th jubilee of Yerevan, which is expected to bring together numerous guests from different countries, including from Yerevan’s sister cities and the Diaspora.
Earlier, the festive events marking the city’s anniversary were scheduled for 29 and 30 September.
