Hello, Mr. Mills
Today, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills gave practical advice to the Armenian government to respond to the comments from the Russian government (Kremlin, Lavrov).
Not denying the simplest truth that any superpower or just another state must not be allowed to interfere into Armenia’s internal affairs, we would like to ask Mr. Ambassador whether he has received the letter addressed to him by Panorama.am on 13 June 2018. We have sent the copies of the same letter to other ambassadors as well.
“To Mr. Richard Mills, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia
Mr. Ambassador,
Taking into account your goodwill and attention to the recent power shift in the Republic of Armenia, let me ask:
Are you following the recent developments on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, in particular in the Nakhichevan border section where Azerbaijan intensified its actions in recent months and has significantly advanced its positions?
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s presentation of Belarusian-produced Polonez multiple-launch rocket system in Baku, plus the lies over allegedly occupying Armenian territories circulated in the Azerbaijani ‘information’ war signals two things: Aliyev either centres his domestic political games around a very dangerous topic, or is actually preparing for a fresh aggression. The latter is much more likely since Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that it will not continue to wait for a peaceful settlement of the issue, hinting its ‘settlement’ will take military actions at some stage. Believe me, the start of that stage is obvious.
Therefore, as a mediator and a powerful state, we ask the Ambassador whether the U.S. plans to take a step to prevent the Azerbaijani aggression and possible military actions.
Thanks in advance.”
We have not received any reply, yet the issue is the most pressing at the moment.
