
Young Armenian chess players have strong start at World Championship
Armenian chess players have showed strong performances at the first round of the World Junior U20 Chess Championship (open & girls under 20) 2018 which kicked off in Turkey on 4 September.
The championship has brought together a total of 165 chess players, including 4 participants from Armenia, Sport.panorama.am reports.
Shant Sargsyan and Aram Hakobyan claimed victories at the first round, while Haik Martirosyan and Manuel Petrosyan drew their games.
Round 2 of the tournament is slated for Thursday.
World Junior U20 Chess Championship runs until 16 September.
