Russia has serious reason for concerns amid Turkey’s Nakhichevan plans – analyst
Armenian political analyst Suren Sargsyan states Turkey’s plans to build a military base in the Azerbaijan-controlled Nakhichevan region should raise serious concerns in Russia.
The analyst does not find it accidental that ahead of today’s trilateral meeting of the Russian, Iranian and Turkish presidents in Tehran, as well as Saturday’s meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin, Turkish and Azerbaijani media actively report about Turkey’s plans to launch its third military base (after Somali and Qatar) in Nakhichevan.
According to him, this will be the first military base deployed by a NATO member state in the Post-soviet territory.
“Moscow has a serious reason for concerns,” he said in a post on Facebook.
