New Wave 2018: Armenian delegate’s performance gets highest points in second round
Singer, songwriter and dancer Gevorg Harutyunyan representing Armenia at New Wave 2018 has received another 100 points for performing “The Line”, an Armenian hit, in the second round of the song contest hosted by Sochi, Russia.
Gevorg was awarded 100 points possible, 10 from each jury member, after performing Laura Pergolizzi’s Lost on You on the first day of the contest, the New Wave official website revealed.
The participants are set to perform songs from their personal repertoire in the third round.
The Armenian delegate’s performance was the only one to get the utmost points.
The Sochi contest has brought together a total of 15 participants from Armenia, Russia, Italy, Malta, Greece, Azerbaijan, Canada, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Bulgaria.
New Wave 2018 international song contest of young performers runs from 4 to 9 September.
Born in Kapan, Armenia, Gevorg Harutyunyan graduated from the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography specialized in film directing. In 2013, he took the fifth place in the X-factor project in Armenia. In 2014, in a duet with a professional dancer Shushanna Dabakhyan, Gevorg won the Dancing with the Stars contest. His biggest dream is to represent Armenia at Eurovision Song Contest. He also dreams about performing with great chansonnier Charles Aznavour.
